More Features, More Functions, More Power - Simplicity
Ever wondered what's hot, trendy and ground-breaking in today's digital world and how to build the next set of services? In my opinion it's Google in the software space and Apple's iPod in the hardware space and ease of use is the most important thing when it comes to new technologies.

Strategy - The Leading Edge of Computing and Communications
Emerging information technologies at the leading edge of computing and communications can be disruptive to existing businesses and even industries. Taking the initiative in being the first mover to adopt these technologies and develop and implement new business models, products and services is highly recommended to get into and to stay in a leading position, however it also means to address a number of user demands.

Today users do not want increasing complexity, however they want easy ways to access content, products and services tailored to their individual needs. Services need to

Comparison Shopping - The Peak Season Starts
After launching Base a few days ago, which offers an excellent opportunity to market oneself's personal business profile, products and services, Google has the potential to improve consumers' shopping experience via Froogle.

The online comparison shopping market moves into its peak season now and with a new service US consumers will finally be able to find items in their neighborhoods and see map information with product, pricing, and store location at Froogle typing the product's name and a location. The new Base-Froogle combined service makes it easier for consumers to find products on a local level and there are reasons to buy locally, I'm thinking of goods where shipping is expensive.

The new Google Base Bulk Uploader is made for merchants both, virtual or brick-and-mortar merchants uploading multiple items all at once to Google Base as tab-delimited file, RSS or Atom. Froogle then directs the consumer searching on Froogle to their eCommerce site, if they don't have one to a Base-generated product site.

Of course, there is also competition from other comparison engines like Yahoo with 90 mio products and their Shoposphere, Shopzilla, Shopping.com, Dealio, SquareTrade, ConsumerClub, FatLens and from YellowPages (Base).

Star Wreck - Embracing the Opportunities of the Internet
'Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning', a Finnish sci-fi parody for everyone on Star Treck was produced by a group of students and amateur film makers with the help of a few oridinary home computers to create the special effects and hit the 3.5 mio downloads mark in less than 2 months, which is very impressive.

The word of the film is spreading through postings on personal blogs, message boards and mailing lists and the Internet's ability to distribute and market movies cuts distribution costs and opens up new markets riding on the popularity of the original Star Trek films. It takes a bit of time to download even on a broadband connection but it's worth it.

New technology and the help of digital video cameras, computer graphics and high-powered home processors are giving online fan films the ability to grow in sophistication with each new generation of digital tools resulting in a product of astonishingly high technical quality.

Web2.0 - New Products and Services
As there is a huge user demand to communicate via networked consumer electronics and to access and share content from multiple sources across multiple devices high speed data flatrates and ubiquitous broadband are leading the way from Web1.0 (DialUp) to Web2.0 (Broadband 1-6Mb/sec) into Web3.0 ( beyond 10Mbs) .

Broadband has driven the emergence of new Internet trends, platforms and technologies and as Web advertising grows and revenues from software licencing shrink IT enterprises have to explor different models of delivering software to customers. It's likely now that free, ad-supported versions of software products will enter new and existing markets now and will be available on-demand.

Building the next-generation information infrastructures now exploiting these Internet-style products, services and interfaces means to embrace the Internet's unique strength which lies in letting users personalize their news, communication and entertainment online, in Web logs, search queries and personal software.

Cell Phones - Presence and Innovation
As cell phone use has exploded all over the world and the open participation model has proven to be the more effective way, I'm wondering when cell phone makers will start to recognize the limits of their closed models and conclud that phones have to be as flexible as ordinary computers.

There is a huge demand among users to connect their social networks with a phone's address book and a huge potential for that type of service that allows visitors to see who is online or active. In my opinion it would be a much better model for a cell phone's lists of contacts and a disruptive innovation in the marketplace.

Presence is not only an integral part of managing communication with friends and colleagues, it will enable you to let others know when you are free and make it easy for them to reach you from any cell phone, Web site, blog or email.

G and Y! - Move towards Telecommunications (US)
As cell phones move from communications devices to minicomputers and advanced networks make information available everywhere, high-speed Internet services and full-fledged search tools continue to spread Internet technology. A recent WSJ report about Google and Yahoo! moving towards the wireless space makes me think that search engines, combined with other technologies like maps, have the potential to drive comparison shopping with a camera-phone that can read product bar codes. Aided by satellite technology the phone could connect to databases and search services and point out that the notebook in front of you is a lot cheaper at a store five miles away. Smarter software provides consumers with lower prices and means a huge reduction in inefficiency everywhere.

'People's behavior in researching buying related information and decision making has changed during the last months. Their favorite methods include researching buying related price comparison sites, RSS-feeds, review sites, blogs and travel sites, while consumer generated content and peer-reviews have a huge impact on their decision making.'
