Comparison Shopping - The Peak Season Starts
After launching Base a few days ago, which offers an excellent opportunity to market oneself's personal business profile, products and services, Google has the potential to improve consumers' shopping experience via
Froogle.
The online comparison shopping market moves into its peak season now and with a new service US consumers will finally be able to find items in their neighborhoods and see map information with product, pricing, and store location at Froogle typing the product's name and a location. The new Base-Froogle combined service makes it easier for consumers to find products on a local level and there are reasons to buy locally, I'm thinking of goods where shipping is expensive.
The new
Google Base Bulk Uploader is made for merchants both, virtual or brick-and-mortar merchants uploading multiple items all at once to Google Base as tab-delimited file, RSS or Atom. Froogle then directs the consumer searching on Froogle to their eCommerce site, if they don't have one to a Base-generated product site.
Of course, there is also competition from other comparison engines like Yahoo with 90 mio products and their Shoposphere, Shopzilla, Shopping.com, Dealio, SquareTrade, ConsumerClub, FatLens and from YellowPages (Base).
