Cell Phones - Presence and Innovation
As cell phone use has exploded all over the world and the open participation model has proven to be the more effective way, I'm wondering when cell phone makers will start to recognize the limits of their closed models and conclud that phones have to be as flexible as ordinary computers.

There is a huge demand among users to connect their social networks with a phone's address book and a huge potential for that type of service that allows visitors to see who is online or active. In my opinion it would be a much better model for a cell phone's lists of contacts and a disruptive innovation in the marketplace.

Presence is not only an integral part of managing communication with friends and colleagues, it will enable you to let others know when you are free and make it easy for them to reach you from any cell phone, Web site, blog or email.
